Rail passengers across Wales and its borders can now look forward to the transformation of their rail services thanks to a £5 billion investment that will fund significant improvements to the frequency and quality of Wales and Borders services, as well as the creation of the South Wales Metro.
In this role you’ll work closely with project managers to ensure that when a rail project is delivered it meets key requirements to be operationally functional and successful. You will manage a variety of stakeholders and collaborate closely with industry partners.
You’ll be involved in a wide variety of projects throughout Wales, including; service improvements, new stations and other infrastructure enhancements, just to name a few.
As you’d expect you’ll be speaking with lots of different stakeholders every day and working closely with our Project Management team to find out what projects are coming down the line.
When new projects land with you you’ll need to get close to what is being delivered and when so you can help the team deliver on time and on budget. You’ll also have to work with the deliverer to make sure they have considered operational policies such as sustainability, impacts on performance or contractual agreements with TfW Rail Services.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll need to be good at building relationships, both internally and with third parties. If you understand railways, project management, and funding opportunities within the rail industry it would be a real benefit.
If you have a background in project management, as a project manager/leader/sponsor, or a business partner that will really help you hit the ground running.
As a minimum requirement you’ll:
- Have previous experience in project management with an understanding of project lifecycles.
- Have Experience of managing stakeholders, with the ability to communicate challenges and potential solutions.
- Possess the ability to work across projects and identify interconnecting issues with other projects.
- Have experience of leading and managing investment schemes.
