Location: Cardiff (move to Pontypridd by late 2020)

Salary: £22,000 - £32,000

Introduction

Rail passengers across Wales and its borders can now look forward to the transformation of their rail services. We are (and will increasingly be) a Public Transportation delivery Agency, delivering significant improvements to the frequency and quality of Wales and Borders rail services, as well as investment in rail infrastructure.

At present, Transport for Wales uses Cloud based Microsoft Office and Dynamics 365 services for its core business activities. As the IT Officer you’ll be part of the IT team that supports and delivers a range of IT support services to enable the company to carry out its core business.

Role responsibilities

You’ll act as the first point of contact to provide guidance on and resolve a wide ranging complexity of day-to-day IT related queries, resolving both hardware and software issues.

You’ll be providing user support to all the staff here at TfW, we’ll need you to be a first point of call for general issues relating to the software, fixing if possible and escalating to our third-party provider when necessary.

You’ll also need procure and deploy new IT equipment and ensure that employees are fully equipped to full undertake their roles.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who can not only be that first of point of contact for a range of issues, but someone who can leverage Microsoft Office and also ideally Dynamics experience to provide support.

You’ll need to have:

o A relevant IT qualification and/or relevant professional IT certification.

o Experience in an IT support role, including 1st and 2nd line support.

o Demonstrable experience of supporting Microsoft Office packages.

o The ability to respond to a range of IT issues and research answers to more complex queries, working with third party providers as required.

It would be beneficial if you also had:

o Degree level qualification in IT.

o Experience in 3rd line IT support.

o Experience of supporting Microsoft Dynamics.
